Expressed in Work

How would you describe your current "happiness factor" in your job? What are the best parts of your work?  The worst parts?

Read together, Genesis 2:7-9, 15.

Do you see your daily work as "worship and calling?" How would it make a difference in your job if you did?

Dorothy Sayers, in her essay Why Work? said, "The only Christian work is good work well done."  Do you agree?  Why or why not?

Think about her phrase, "good work... well done."  It refers to two qualities-- work that is good for others, and work that is done to the best of our ability.  What makes this kind of work "worship?"

Read together, Genesis 3:17-19.

What does God promise us about our daily work?

How is your work "thorns and thistles" and "sweat of the brow" right now?

How does knowing that "our work will never fully work" help with our expectations or assumptions about our jobs?

Put those 2 principles together-- "Work as worship" (Gen 2), and "Work as under the curse" (Gen 3).

How do these twin truths shape your vision of work?  Be specific on how this biblical vision can help you right now.
