Jesus Appeared to the Disciples
1. “If I didn’t see it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe it.” Have you ever had one of these moments? Have you ever witnessed or experienced something so surreal, that you were left speechless? Confused? Awestruck?
2. What were the disciples “still talking about” in Luke 24:36? What had happened that morning and that afternoon that caused vigorous discussion that evening?
3. Examine both passages and write down all of the emotions listed in the text. Why do you think the appearance of the resurrected Jesus elicited these responses?
4. How does the resurrected Jesus evidence His humanity? His divinity?
5. What was the purpose of this appearance of Christ to His disciples? Why did Jesus show them His hands, feet, and side? Why did He eat with them?
6. The disciples were sent to preach the gospel to the nations. “As the Father sent me, I am sending you…” (John 20:21) What is our role in the proclamation of the gospel message of Jesus? How do you feel about that?
