Expressed in Marriage
Read the passage out loud in the group: Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15-25
Make some observations about the passage:
- What do you see in general?
- What do you see in particular about men and women in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2?
- What do you see as the goal of marriage?
How does a vision of "equal and distinct" shape the way we see men and women? How does it shape the way we see marriage?
God's vision of men, women, and marriage is counter-cultural. Rather than critiquing the culture's vision of gender and marriage, how do you think elevating and expressing the Genesis vision can help us and others? (Two equal yet distinct genders living in oneness.)
For singles and marrieds, how does knowing that "human/earthly marriage is not ultimate, and that all believers are waiting for our ultimate marriage to Jesus as the Church's Bridegroom" help you view singleness (yours or others)?
For singles and marrieds, how does knowing that "the goal of every marriage is God-glorifying oneness (Genesis 2:24)" help you view marriage (yours or others)?
