Jesus Gave the Great Commission
What’s the most inspirational speech you’ve ever heard? What
are some of the greatest inspirational moments that we remember from speeches?
What did that speech inspire you to want to do?
Read Matthew 28:16-20 aloud.
This is the familiar “Great Commission.” Despite its brevity, it is amazingly impactful. What inspires you about this short passage?
How does Jesus deal with the doubt of some who were there at
this post-resurrection scene (verse 17)? What does this tell us about how to deal
with our doubts today?
What does it mean that “all authority” has been given to
Jesus (verse 18)? How does that affect our understanding of the instructions found
in the verses that follow?
As a group, discuss what each of these commands looks like
practically today:
- Go
- Make Disciples of all nations
- Baptize
- Teach
Why is the promise that ends the passage so significant? How
can you and your group be part of fulfilling the Great Commission in your
neighborhood, school, work, and community?
